About Us

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties. Our mission is to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and enhance quality of life and economic vitality. The Mobility Authority created MoveFWD, a Workforce Collaborative of Central Texas, in 2018 to help people establish careers in growing industries that provide job stability and benefits. We collaborate with regional partners to provide comprehensive employment outreach, social services, and training to Central Texans.

Mission and Goals

The mission of MoveFWD is to help workers who are disadvantaged or displaced by providing job training, life skills, a support network, and access to employment opportunities. Our collaborative, progressive and comprehensive approach brings together all of the resources necessary to give disadvantaged workers the tools they need to achieve economic independence and establish a better quality of life. Our target job candidate population includes veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness and near homelessness, millennials, reentry (ex-offenders), those lacking training, certification, or appropriate education, as well as the under-employed in our community.

Job Training in Key Industries

The MoveFWD program provides training in CDL truck driving, roadway construction, and customer service for call centers. Other industries are interested in joining the program and are likely to be added in the future.

Commercial Drivers License (CDL): The economic and construction boom in Central Texas is driving a huge need for individuals with Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL). In collaboration with our program partners, the MoveFWD program is offering CDL training courses in Austin. The 5-week course includes classroom instruction and behind the wheel, on road training to prepare you for a long-term career. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of tuition. During the course, several local employers will be visiting with students to share truck driving experiences and discuss employment opportunities. New classes will begin every month. If you want to become part of this high demand industry, complete the Job Candidate Intake Form and a Career Manager will contact you. You may also contact our training partner, Austin Community College, to learn more about the CDL truck driving course.

Customer Service/Call Centers: Customer service representatives working in call centers are also in high demand. The MoveFWD offers training to prepare job candidates for this engaging field. With the current and projected growth of call centers in Central Texas, rewarding long-term career opportunities are available in this industry. Finanical aid opportunities are available through Austin Community College.

Heavy Equipment Operators: Excellent career opportunities are currently available in roadway construction. Many new roadway projects will soon move into the construction phase and contractors will be looking to hire qualified candidates to help build the projects. The hiring contractors are aware of the program and are looking forward to our pipeline of qualified candidates. In some cases, government agencies are working with contractors to ensure employment opportunities are being made available to individuals who participate in the MoveFWD program.
